NewsLetter – December 2020

IAM SAM Newsletter

The latest committee meeting took place on Tuesday 1st Dec, again via Zoom, topics up for discussion included :

A report from our chairman following his recent zoom meeting with the IAM and Chairs from other groups in our region.

Member recruitment – our literature will be placed in high profile locations such as dealers, If anybody has any ideas of good locations for this, eg. a favourite cafe / accessory shop or MOT station with a high footfall of bikers please let us know. Members are also encouraged to distribute the literature themselves, send a mail to the address below and we will ensure that you receive a pack, but please let us know where you want to put it so that we can avoid duplications.

Website and social media improvements – the website has been relocated to a new host, the web address and email addresses for the moment remain the same, additional domain names are being investigated, such as IAM-SAM.org, Administration of the website has now been outsourced.

Paypal – As a consequence of the changes made we have had to close our paypal account so are currently unable to take payment that way. We will keep you informed on this matter but please bear in mind that everyone has received an extra 12 months membership, free of charge, so this should not create any immediate problems.

Ride-outs – With different areas in different tiers and no clear IAM guidance it is unlikely that any official rideouts will happen for the remainder of this year, but please keep eye on Facebook for the latest news.

Club roles – your committee is still evolving and there is always plenty to do, you do not need to join the committee to help out, but new committee members will always be welcome. We are currently looking for a new treasurer so if anyone is interested please let us know.

Newsletter – after our update on the website and social media in the last newsletter we were contacted by a member who was concerned that our communication would shift to social media. We would like to reassure members with these concerns that the newsletter is considered an important line of communication. We currently produce it after each committee meeting as a report to you, the membership, but are hoping that it will grow as the club becomes more active, so if any members wish to contribute articles please send them in.

LOSW – Peter Wood , organiser of the Last Of the Summer Wine bike group has invited full members of SAM to join them on their Wednesday ride-outs. If you wish to go, please let them know well in advance, as spaces are limited in accordance with current regulations.

As always, if anyone has ideas or suggestions on any of the above, or anything else SAM, please let us know at committee@iam-sam.org

Stay safe, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. SAM Committee
